Everybody experiences different levels of withdrawal symptoms when quitting Xanax. Some people have claimed they felt nothing however my withdrawal symptoms were pretty extreme. I experienced most of my withdrawal symptoms when I first started to cut back on my prescription. I felt anxious, crabby, weak, and couldn’t sleep at night. When I did get to sleep, I had some of the worst nightmares ever.
A few days after I made each cut things would smooth out and I would start feeling good again. After a week or two I would make another cut and repeat the process. Now that I look back that whole crummy experience, I will never do another drug. I remember one time, I was driving to Florida, ran out of Xanax and started feeling jittery. It was going to be another day before I could pick up my prescription and all I had was 2 empty Xanax bottles with me so I poured in some water and drank the left over dust. It worked.
It is really hard to actually describe the real feeling I had while going through withdrawal but if you are going through it, hang in there, it gets much better. I think most people have similar withdrawal symptoms as I had. Whether It is hard or easy for you, remember to consult your doctor because it can be very dangerous getting off Xanax.
If you are going through Xanax withdrawal or have already quit and remember what it was like for you, I would love you to share your story with me and others!
My husband has been addicted to Xanax for 12-15 years. There is no limit to how many he takes and he drinks on top of it.
He is now in a detox facilty for the 2nd time and I can’t seem to really find the answers I am looking for to help him finally kick this awful disease.
He functions and owns his own business, but he really doesn’t. Everything I have read online about this addiction is 100% true to our life. I want to help him, but we do not have insurance and the cost of rehab is way beyond what we can afford. I have tried finding drugs online that help him get through this process, but the side effectsscare me more so than the xanax.
Do you know of a drug that can be taken daily that curves the desire to take Xanax? I have found many for Opiate addictions, but nothing on Benzos.
My approach has been similar to yours and has worked perfectly with only slight jitters. I have heard people on line say that Xanax withdrawal is no big deal and I can’t imagine that anyone going through this easily. Love your water in the xanax bottle! Funny, I have also ran out and went half crazy.
Shannon, I know that Xanax Withdrawal Isn’t just hard on the person taking Xanax, it is also hard on the family. I haven’t heard of any drug to curve the desire to take Xanax. I think he just has to dig down deep and commit to quitting. I didn’t know it was effecting my business until I quit. This is one of the reasons I don’t like xanax, because you’re in lala land and think everything is great. I wish your husband and family well. I believe Prayer works better than anything because my wife prayed for me everyday.
I have battle an addiction to Xanax for 4 years. In that time period I have been admitted to 2 different treatment centers and lost temporary custody of my 10 year old daughter twice. I recently had a son
December 2010. When he was 12 weeks old I relapsed and blamed stress of a new baby to refill my script. It has now been 3 months since I’ve used and everyday is a battle. I want that mental vacation that comes with that drug.
It’s hard…….0ne day at a time…
